Linux ohne CD/USB von Windows aus installieren?

Hallo,
möchte gern Linux installieren, habe jedoch nur die ISO und kein Laufwerk/USB-Stick mit genug Speicher. Kann ich denn von Windows aus das Linux auf eine freie Partition installieren?

So etwas ähnliches geht doch mit dem Wubi-Installer (http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Wubi). Da kannst Du unter Windows ein Ubuntu installieren. Zwar installiert er nicht auf eine extra Partition, sondern in einen Windows-Ordner, aber sonst unterscheidet sich das Wubi-Ubuntu-System nicht von einem normalen Ubuntu.

Alternativ schlage ich auch ein Alternate-Installer-Image vor, dass es von Ubuntu gibt. Das ist wenige MB groß und passt auf jeden USB-Stick. Den Restd er Daten wird dann aus dem Netz geholt.

Oh, sorry, shee gerade, dass smatbohn das schon mit dem wubi vorgeschlagen hat.

DH für smatbohn's pragmatischen Ansatz!
Wenn du nur eine Maschine hast, auf der du zu Windows zusätzlich auch noch Linux installieren willst, dann geht das nicht.

Ansonsten gibt es Möglichkeiten, mit einem kleinen Boot-USB-Stick zu booten und dann die Sources selber via FTP anzusaugen. Dazu bräuchtest du natürlich einen eigenen Server und müsstest selbstverständlich das ganze zuerst entsprechend einrichten (Anleitungen dazu gibt es wie immer im Internet).

Ich will nicht sagen, dass das theoretisch unmöglich ist, angesichts der Tatsache, dass man Brenner bereits ab 18 ? und entsprechend große USB-Sticks schon für ein paar Euro erhält, stünde allein der Aufwand an "Gehirnschmalz" in keinem vernünftigen Verhältnis.

Wenn es einfach um das Ausprobieren von *Ubuntu* geht, empfehle ich dir als Problemlösung *Wubi*. Das ist ein vollständiges *Ubuntu*, das allerdings wie ein Programm in *Windows* läuft und sich auch völlig ohne zusätzliche Laufwerke installieren lässt.

bei open suse gibt es so einen internet-installer. der hat glaube nur etwas über 100MB. wenn du den irgendwie auf stick kriegst und davon bootest kannst du die installation direkt aus dem internet laufen lassen. die benötigten pakete werden dann nicht von cd sondern aus dem netz geladen und installiert. so ganz ohne irgendwas kann ich mir aber nicht vorstellen.
