If you love saving money on groceries and everyday shopping, Ibotta is a cashback app worth exploring. It allows users to earn cash back on eligible purchases by activating offers and submitting shopping receipts or linking eligible loyalty accounts. Even better, new users may qualify for a sign-up bonus by joining through a referral link or entering a referral code.

If you are wondering how does the Ibotta referral code work, how to use one, and how to earn the available $20 bonus, this guide explains the process step by step.

What Is the Ibotta Referral Code?
An Ibotta referral code is a unique code that helps identify who invited a new user to the app. When someone signs up using a qualifying referral code or referral link and completes the required steps, they may become eligible for a promotional bonus.

Ibotta referral code: RIWKCGX

Currently, the offer described here is a $20 sign-up bonus for eligible new users who create an account through the referral code or link and upload their first shopping receipt, subject to Ibotta's applicable offer terms.

Using a referral code is a simple way to get started while potentially earning extra money on your regular shopping.

How Does the Ibotta Referral Code Work?
The Ibotta referral program is designed to reward eligible new users and encourage existing users to invite friends and family. The process generally involves three main steps: signing up, completing the required shopping activity, and receiving the applicable bonus.

Here's how to get started.

Step 1: Sign up for Ibotta
First, download the Ibotta app on your compatible smartphone or visit the official Ibotta website.

Create your account using the registration details requested by the platform. If you have a referral link, open it before registering so the referral can be properly attributed to your account.

If you are signing up with a referral code, enter RIWKCGX in the designated referral-code field if one is available during registration.

Make sure you complete the referral process before creating your account, as promotional eligibility and the ability to add a referral code later may be limited.

Step 2: Complete Your First Shopping Trip
After creating your account, browse the available cashback offers in Ibotta. Select eligible offers that match products you genuinely intend to purchase.

Shop at a participating retailer and keep your receipt. Depending on the retailer and offer, you may be able to submit a receipt, connect a loyalty account, or use another supported redemption method.

For the promotion described in this guide, uploading your first qualifying shopping receipt is the required next step. Check the offer's terms to confirm which retailers, receipts, and purchases qualify.

Step 3: Receive Your $20 Sign Up Bonus
Once you have completed the required registration and shopping steps, Ibotta can determine whether your account qualifies for the referral promotion.

Under the current offer described here, eligible new users can receive a $20 sign-up bonus after creating an account through the referral code or link and uploading their first qualifying shopping receipt.

Keep in mind that the bonus is subject to the promotion's conditions. It may not appear immediately, and the timing can depend on receipt processing and account eligibility.

How Does the Ibotta Referral Program Work for Existing Users?
Ibotta also offers a referral program that can reward existing users for inviting others to join the app.

If you already use Ibotta, you may be able to share your personal referral code or referral link with friends and family. When someone joins through your referral and completes the required qualifying actions, you may become eligible for an additional referral bonus.

According to the offer described here, you can earn an extra $20 bonus for referring someone to Ibotta, provided the referral meets the applicable program requirements.

How to Earn the Extra $20 Referral Bonus
Follow these steps to invite others:

1. Open the Ibotta app and locate its referral or invite-friends section.

2. Find your personal referral code or referral link.

3. Share it with friends or family members who may be interested in earning cashback.

4. Ask them to use your link or code when creating their account.

5. Ensure they complete the qualifying steps required by the current referral promotion.

6. Check your Ibotta account for confirmation of the referral and any bonus earned.

Remember that sharing a code alone may not be enough to qualify for a reward. The person you refer may need to complete specific activities, and additional restrictions may apply.

Can You Earn Both the $20 Sign-Up Bonus and the $20 Referral Bonus?
These are two different earning opportunities.

The first is intended for eligible new users who join through a qualifying referral and complete the required shopping activity. The second is intended for eligible existing users who refer another person who successfully meets the program's conditions.

For example, imagine you sign up using referral code RIWKCGX and complete the required first-receipt step. If you qualify for the advertised $20 sign-up bonus, you could receive that reward. Later, if you invite a friend through your own referral link and that friend completes all the required steps, you could potentially qualify for the additional $20 referral reward.

However, the bonuses are not automatically guaranteed or necessarily available to every account. Check Ibotta's current terms to confirm the applicable reward amounts and conditions before relying on a combined total.

Tips for Using an Ibotta Referral Code Successfully
To avoid missing a promotional reward, keep these practical tips in mind.

1. Use the referral code before signing up. Start with the referral link or enter the code during the supported registration process. Do not assume a code can be applied retroactively.

2. Read the promotion's requirements. Confirm the eligible retailers, receipt rules, qualifying purchases, deadlines, and any other conditions.

3. Upload a valid shopping receipt. Make sure the receipt is readable, belongs to an eligible purchase, and meets the submission requirements.

4. Keep your account information accurate. Use your own account and follow Ibotta's rules for new-user and referral eligibility.

5. Check your account for bonus updates. Receipt processing and referral verification may take time. If a qualifying reward does not appear, review the offer details and contact Ibotta support.

6. Share your code responsibly. Give your referral link to people who genuinely want to try the app, and avoid making claims that every signup is guaranteed to earn a bonus.
